Generative Music - with Noatikl...
Noatikl replaces the award-winning SSEYO Koan generative music system. It is a new trans-generative music tool from Intermorphic.
And Also... Mobile Music Mixing - with Mixtikl (now released!)
Mixtikl replaces the award-winning SSEYO miniMIXA mobile music mixer. From Intermorphic, it's a new music software app for mobile phone / cellphone / smartphone, PDA / PocketPC & PC / Mac.
SSEYO (1990 - 2007) » Intermorphic (2007 onwards)
SSEYO (www.sseyo.com) was founded in 1990 by Pete and Tim Cole; namely, us, the founders of Intermorphic.
SSEYO was acquired by Tao Group in 2002, which went bust in 2007. So, in 2007 we co-founded Intermorphic to continue the life's work we started at SSEYO, in the areas of generative music tools and mobile music mixing & making software and tools [formerly miniMIXA].
We finally got our 'back catalogue' back in 2008 when Intermorphic acquired the rights to the SSEYO.com domain, SSEYO trademarks and all the SSEYO, Koan, miniMIXA and iSS related IP. Result!
Generative Music - with SSEYO Koan
SSEYO was best known for its Koan Generative Music Tools, now replaced by Intermorphic's new Noatikl trans-generative music tool. SSEYO also developed interactive generative music browser plugins, and content until being acquired by Tao Group in 2002, when development on Koan stopped.
Koan was used by Brian Eno in his '96 "Generative Music 1" release.
Koan still has a future, thanks to Intermorphic, albeit with a new name. Koan is replaced by Intermorphic's totally new, clean-roomed developed successor: Noatikl for Windows, Mac (& Mobile via Mixtikl).
Koan users will find Noatikl similar to Koan in many ways & there's a way it can play content created with Koan tools, too. So for Koan users the 'format' lives on in .noatikl files instead.
In fact, Noatikl provides Koan users a bridge to an exciting future: a new code base & tools that are being maintained, developed and extended to meet new challenges. For example, a runtime Noatikl generative music engine is an integral component of Mixtikl.
Mobile Music Mixing & Making - with SSEYO miniMIXA
Whilst at Tao we developed SSEYO miniMIXA, an advanced mobile music mixing software application for Smartphone (Windows Mobile and Symbian), and Pocket PC. miniMIXA V1 was first released to the market in 2004, miniMIXA V2 in 2006 and miniMIXA V3 was due for release in 2007, but Tao Group folded before then. Intermorphic are porting and extending miniMIXA, and have renamed it Mixtikl.
SSEYO website archive
When we have time we hope to put some of the SSEYO website back on line, but right now we are focused on the future, which is looking very exciting for generative music and mobile music tools!
If you want to go back in history right now, you can access the old SSEYO site at the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. The last effective date for the site was March 7 2007 (after which Tao Group cleansed it of all SSEYO information). When accessed from there the menuing no longer seems to work, and some versions now redirect you back to the intermorphic website (in which case try using sseyoindex.html after the SSEYO domain in the Wayback Machine).
